Deputy Premier Hon. Sean Astwood hasdismissed claims by the Opposition Progressive National Party (PNP) that recentroad paving projects across the Turks and Caicos Islands are politicallymotivated. Speaking in the House of Assembly on August 17th, Astwood emphasizedthat road development is part of the government's ongoing commitment toimproving infrastructure, not an election gimmick.
Astwood highlighted the consistent progressmade since his government came to power, noting roadworks completed annually incommunities such as Blue Hills, Wheeland, Glass Shack, The Bight, and GrandTurk. He also pointed to active projects, including a $2 million tender forroads in North Caicos and nearly $1 million allocated for upgrades to FrontStreet in Grand Turk.
Refuting the Opposition's claims, Astwood remarked,"When you smell tar, that's just the PDM government continuing thework." He assured residents that road paving has been a consistentpriority in every budget since the PDM took office, reflecting a long-termcommitment to improving infrastructure for all communities across the Turks andCaicos Islands.
