Hon. Sean Astwood, in collaboration withthe Department of Disaster Management & Emergencies (DDME), led asuccessful clean-up campaign in Five Cays on Saturday, June 7, 2014, to preparefor hurricane season. Residents were encouraged to clear their surroundings,disposing of garbage, old appliances, and scrap materials for collection. TheDepartment of Environmental Health also contributed by identifying and removingderelict vehicles. Initially planned as a three-hour event, the campaignextended into a full day of community effort.

Astwood expressed gratitude to allparticipants, including community members, the Enid Capron Primary School, E& V Equipment, Projetech, and the DDME. “Cleaning up is a major step ingiving Five Cays a face-lift. This initiative wouldn't have been successfulwithout the collective effort of everyone involved,” he stated.

Astwood urged residents to continue playingan active role in maintaining the cleanliness of their community, emphasizingthat a clean and safe environment benefits everyone. He invited thoseinterested in supporting future clean-up initiatives to reach out, noting thatcollective action is key to achieving long-term improvements for Five Cays.
