Astwood recently partnered with AmanyaraResorts and Cutting Edge Landscaping to install a new "Welcome to FiveCays" sign, marking the start of beautification efforts. He explained thatthe initiative aims to make the community more inviting for both residents andvisitors. The project, situated at a busy intersection that leads to South Dockand Chalk Sound, is expected to finish in time for the Five Cays Lobster Feston September 1st. Astwood emphasized the importance of private-sector partnershipsin reinvesting in local projects, noting that businesses like Amanyara’s BlueHeron Aviation are helping revitalize the area.

Infrastructural upgrades form a centralpart of the transformation plan. Key projectsinclude road redevelopment and paving for Matilda Circle, Granny Hill, and theroad leading to the radar station. These roads will also feature sidewalks andstreetlights. Tendering for these projects is expected to begin in September.Astwood is also advocating for repairs to existing streetlights damaged duringhurricanes and securing additional lighting for South Dock road. Meanwhile,expansion of the community center is planned to include multipurpose courts,parks, a library, after-school programs, and clinics, creating a hub ofactivity and resources for residents.

Smaller beautification projectscomplement these major developments. Landscaping,cleanup campaigns, and continued road grading will enhance Five Cays' aestheticappeal. Astwood stressed the importance of making the community center acornerstone for educational and recreational programs, ensuring it remains openand accessible to all. The upgrades aim to transform Five Cays into awell-resourced, visually appealing, and vibrant community, with both public andprivate sectors working together to improve residents' quality of life.
