A newly remodeled roundabout in DowntownProvidenciales has been unveiled, showcasing the Turks and Caicos Islands'national pride. The roundabout, located at the end of Leeward Highway, featuresvibrant red and green colors inspired by the Turks head cactus, one of theTCI’s national symbols. A striking centerpiece includes the national flagflying high alongside welcoming and farewell signs reading: "Welcome toTurks and Caicos," "Thank you for visiting," and "Pleasecome again."
Premier Hon. Sharlene Cartwright Robinsonand Deputy Premier Hon. Sean Astwood officially revealed the revampedroundabout on August 6. This project is part of a broader initiative tobeautify TCI’s roads and roundabouts, with 22 roundabouts set for completion byOctober. The effort aims to create a memorable first impression for visitorswhile enhancing the local landscape. Premier Cartwright Robinson also announcedplans for statues of the nation’s only named national hero to be installed atroundabouts in Providenciales and Grand Turk, funded through privatepartnerships.
The Adopt-A-Highway and Adopt-A-Roundaboutprograms will soon be launched to maintain these areas, involving the publicand private sectors in a collaborative effort to beautify the islands’roadsides. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to enhancingTCI's infrastructure and cultural identity.
